Openings

College Admissions Counselor

(part-time, remote)

Role:
 

The college counselor assists students in grades 9-12 with all aspects of the college preparation, search, and application processes. This is a part-time, remote position. The counselor will use desktop sharing to work with students. This position provides the opportunity to counsel students and their parents, manage individual projects, and work as part of a highly motivated and dynamic team.

 

Responsibilities:

 

· Assist in all aspects of the college application process including college selection, essay development, and help to complete applications.

· Work with younger students in grades 9-11 to obtain job shadowing positions, internships, applications to competitive summer camps, and other activities to help strengthen their student profile.

· Manage a support team for the student including essay coach, resume coach, financial aid coach, and tutors. Strong project management skills required.

 

Requirements:

 

The ideal candidate possesses the following:

​

· Bachelor's degree required. Advance degree preferred.

· A minimum of 3 years of direct experience in an undergraduate admissions office of a selective U.S. college or university. 

· Experience in college counseling at a selective high school may also be considered toward, but not in lieu of, this prerequisite. We cannot consider the candidacy of any applicant who does not meet the prerequisite of direct experience in an undergraduate admissions office.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Strong project management skills.

· Confidence, resourcefulness, accountability, and a high degree of integrity and ethics.

· Flexibility: counselors often work weekends and evenings to advise students. Counselors work around the student's schedule. The busiest time is the fall and the counselor must be available around the holidays. 

· The counselor must not have their own independent counseling business. Non-compete must be signed prior to joining the team.

Results:

· We currently have the leading acceptance rate of 92% of our students are accepted into one of their top 3 schools. We maintain this rate by providing honest and direct feedback to students and parents. 

· Counselors have the ability to earn bonuses based on performance and client feedback scores.

· Weekly call with the management team to measure student progress is required.

Counselor

SAT/ACT Tutor

(part-time, remote)

Role:
 

Our tutors work one-on-one with students and help with preparation for standardized tests required for admissions. Tutors are adept at customizing each session to the student's individual needs. This is a part-time, remote position. The tutor will use desktop sharing to work with students. This position provides the opportunity to tutor students, correspond with their parents, manage individual projects, and work as part of a highly motivated and dynamic team.

 

Responsibilities:

 

· Create a personalized tutoring plan for each student based on their level, goals, and learning style.

· Proactive approach with students - coordinate tutoring sessions, adhere to agreed upon schedule, and follow-up as necessary.

· Arrive at each tutoring session on time and with all necessary materials prepared.

· Stay up-to-date on changes to standardized tests and curriculums, and apply the latest strategies, methods, and content during tutoring sessions.

 

Requirements:

 

The ideal candidate possesses the following:

 

· Bachelor's degree required (Master's preferred).

· Must have scored in the 95th percentile or above on the SAT/ACT. Ability to show recent test scores. 

· Ability to teach all sections of the SAT and ACT required.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· SAT Subject Test tutoring & AP tutoring preferred.

· Previous test preparation training preferred. 

· Previous tutoring experience, particularly for college-bound high school students, preferred.  

· Ability to tutor online through Skype or Zoom.

· Flexible schedule required / available nights and weekends.

 

Results:

 

· Email parent progress reports within 24 hours of each session, providing a summary of the session, an overview of the student’s progress, and next steps.   

· Respond to all correspondence from students, parents, and the Moon Prep team within 24 hours of receipt.

· Tutors have the ability to earn bonuses based on performance and client feedback scores.

· Weekly call with the management team to measure student progress is required.
