  • What's the secret to getting into a top university?
Two words: THE APPLICATION. When it comes to highly selective colleges, having a high GPA, a top SAT score, or athletic trophies isn’t enough. You need a college application with a wow-factor if you want to stand out. College admissions officers read thousands of applications for eight to ten hours a day. After a while, many applications start to look alike. You have to come alive in the application if you want to be noticed. This means telling a riveting and cohesive story that shows you’re a real person, rather than a few sheets of paper. Moon Prep offers access to a unique methodology for creating standout applications.
  • What grade levels do you work with?
We work with students from Kindergarten through Medical School. While the application process varies, one component remains the same: telling your story. Moon Prep counselors are master storytellers. They specialize in the narrative form of writing and can help you craft your essays. We are also able to work with parents and realize they are part of this process too.
  • Do you offer single services such as essay editing?
Yes, we specialize in essay development and editing. Each student is unique and that is why we tailor our services based on the student's needs. To learn more about our programs, click here.
  • How is Moon Prep different from a tutor?
Have you heard of the phrase: "Jack of all trades, master of none"? That pretty much sums up most generic tutoring companies. Basically, going to a tutoring company for a specialized service such as college admissions is like going to a dentist for heart surgery. At Moon Prep, we do one thing and we do it better than anyone else in the industry: guiding students in crafting exceptional college applications. All of the service we offer are centered around getting students accepted into the college of their choice.
  • Do you work with students in-person?
We work with all students online using a combination of desktop sharing, video conferencing, phone calls, emails, and text messaging. We are in constant communication with our clients, and students who live out of state or internationally are at no disadvantage. We work with many international students and can accommodate a variety of schedules and time zones.
  • Does Moon Prep only work with students who want to attend Ivy League universities?
No. While we have helped our clients get into Ivy League schools, the students we work with pursue a variety of universities. They also have varying SAT/ACT scores and GPAs. We have helped students from Kindergarten to Undergraduate to Grad School gain admission at their top-choice school. Each Moon Prep counselor is a specialist in their respective field. We realize that each student is one-of-a-kind with unique goals, interests, and aspirations. Finding schools that match your criteria is a part of our service, whether your goal is to secure a scholarship, to get into a bs/md program, to go to a school in a certain location, or to study abroad. Our ultimate goal is to help students craft a standout college application to gain admission to a university that is a good fit for them.
  • Why should I hire Moon Prep if my child’s high school has their own college counselor?
The national student-to-counselor ratio is 482:1. According to experts, this proportion has remained virtually unchanged for nearly ten years. This ratio is not conducive to personalized attention because when it comes time to apply to college, all of the students need help at once. Most students receive no more than 30 minutes of the counselor’s time. We only work with a limited number of students at a time, which allows us to provide one-on-one attention and a high level of service. We work with your schedule, including nights, early mornings, and weekend appointments. Phone calls, emails, and text messages are promptly returned. We believe this individualized attention is a necessity when it comes to gaining a competitive edge in the college admissions process.
