In 2015, one of President Obama's goals was to make community college free for all Americans. So far, California has moved aggressively to make this a reality.
To date, at least 30 programs offering financial support to incoming community college students are active in California.
UC's undergraduate tuition and fees are nearly $13,500 a year for in-state students and $40,000+ for out-of-state students. With the price tag being so high, California’s 100+ community colleges have become an increasingly attractive option for families looking for alternatives to the state’s public universities.
